Barn Swallow

A Barn Swallow (Hirundo rustica) in flight.

It took a lot of shoots to get this single photo. In flight they are fast and incalculable.

Gear: Nikon D3 with 600/4, 1/3200s at f7,1 ISO 1250

A family of Goldeneye

I photographed a muskrat at the golf course in Åsele some time ago. A family of Goldeneyes was swimming at the same location.

Isn’t the chickens is cute?. It looks like little downy balls floating around in the water 🙂

Gear: Nikon D3, 600/4 with 1,4 teleconverter. ISO 2500.

Moose

I came across this moose in the end of July 2007. I regret that I didn’t have brought with me a telephoto lens. So I did some landscape shoots with a moose in.

At home in front of the computer, I discovered that a seagull was sitting on a rock, a common goldeneye and a beaver swam downstream.

Do you see them? It may be hard to see them when the picture is so little. But they are there.

Together

Two Common Terns together.

Close encounter

In early April I followed Kurt-Olof Edström to check out a capercaillie game.  The male capercaillie  is aggressive and attack everyone who comes into their playground at spring.

We went to the site on skiis and used our rods to keep the rooster at a safe distance. It beats with its wings and bits and that can be painful. So that’s nothing I wanted to experience 🙂

Gallery Notice : Images have either not been selected or couldn't be found

I also would point out that we not tried to and wanted to hurt the capercaillie in any way.

The capercaillie is formidable at close quarters. And it was an experience I will not forget!

And finally some technique. I used Nikon D3 with 24/2,8 and 70-200/2,8

Siberian Jay

On April 4 this year, I was out driving a snowmobile. Siberian jays showed up when I sat down to have a cup of coffee. There were four who sat around me.
Siberian Jays are quite fearless and with help of my last sandwich, they came even closer.

I used Nikon D3 with 70-200/2,8. 1/1000s at f2,8 ISO 200.

I long to April

I long to April. Migratory birds is coming back, and nature comes back to alive. This image is shoot in April 2009.

Two second exposure

Mallars

It’s been a while since I wrote in the blog. I’m  alive and I am still shooting :-).

But anyway, the picture above was made earlier tonight. Söråselesjön is partly frozen so the birds that are still here gather where the ice is open. The sun had disappeared behind the mountain a half hour earlier. I made an exposure at two seconds to capture the movement among the mallards.

Black & white vs color

B&W or color?

The picture shows a seagul who just caught a an insect. The photo is made June 13 2007.

Which do you prefer, black and white or color?
